I've seen this on opensuse 10.2. When attempting to create an LVM
partition of size "max", it attempts to allocate exactly 1 extent more
than is available on the device. We get around it by setting the <size>
section to something reasonable, but smaller than a fully allocated
device.
I filed a bug for this way back...like 3 or 4 months ago.
