Hi all, maybe this is a very common one, but I simply bang my head against this wall not knowing what to do anymore. I setup my system (SUSE Linux 10.1) as normal, manually from DVD. With YaST2 I configured a NFS share for network installation. With "Automatic Installation" I cloned the system to a file named "config.xml". The NFS source is a notebook and completely the same like nine others I have, so I just want to apply the installation from the first one to all the others. Well of course I do not want to deploy the network settings, so I would like to set that manually during stage 2 of installation (together with the hostname), but everything else should be identical. So I opened the cloned profile "config.xml" and did a reset on the NIC configuration and (you never now) on the graphic cards section to let them detect during installation. The changed file now is stored as config.xml in /shares/nfs/amilo I turn on another notebook and start the installation from DVD and write the relevant append line autoyast=nfs://192.168.1.80/shares/nfs/amilo and now the fun begins. Sometimes this just wents through, sometimes the path must be entered again, sometimes he wants to have .../amilo/config.xml, but in the end ... Well, the filesystem is initialized to be sure that the complete harddrive is flushed. For my systems I only need one partion for swap and / so I just let autoyast autoset these things and all works, the packages are being installed and I get my cup of coffee. Then the system reboots and ... nothing happens. Grub does not start to boot. I only see a flickering cursor in the very left upper corner of the screen and that's it. I can boot up the system via the "boot installed system" option from the DVD and the installation goes to stage 2, but I would like to know what I can do to tell grub to just start my system. Just to be sure: My system is a plain install with no added packages from the internet. All packagages are from the DVD media and my "master" notebook has all updates installed.
