SLES9: New networkcard and eht-id. Not really a autoyast issue?

Hi,
when I install linux using SLES9 my network card will get a unique name in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-id-MAC, in the file there is a 'UNIQUE' value set.
When I insert a new network card after the installation, the network card will not get these UNIQUE values....not really a autoyast issue or ist it?
