If you are installing in text mode, you can try this:
For example:
      <post-scripts config:type="list">
         <script>
           <filename>pre.sh</filename>
           <interpreter>shell</interpreter>
           <source>
<![CDATA[#!/bin/sh

/usr/bin/chvt 3
exec < /dev/tty3 > /dev/tty3

echo "Running pre-install script"
ls -lR /tmp
/usr/bin/chvt 1

]]>
           </source>
         </script>
       </post-scripts>
