Those of us involved with working the openSUSE booth for SCaLE 11x 2013 had the great idea for a custom banner for the booth... one problem though... we don't have a design, and non of us are skilled in computer graphics. If there is anyone who could help us design a Southern California themed banner, that would be very helpful.
Hi Drew,
SCaLE Design Mailing List are closed. In other words we can't even see their communication.
To make banner design that can be produced in any size artwork guys have to make it as a vector graphic .svg file.
Current logo is a small bitmap image: http://www.socallinuxexpo.org/sites/all/themes/custom/ui_toolkit/img/scale11... They don't scale.
After some search I found that font is Kredit Back + some other rounded for small upper "a". Kredit Back comes with license that is not OSS, but also not very restrictive: http://typodermicfonts.com/pages/license It can be downloaded from some links offered on above site.
There is a Troy, the SCaLE mascot. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/162474/SCALE10x-Website/troy.svg Is that still considered mascot, that is another question.
I hope this will help those that will take on a task.

Rajko, Thank you for your help. I must apologize however, as I fear that in my attempt to keep my email brief i sacraficed a bit of clarity. You see, I do not want to make a SCaLE themed banner but rather an openSUSE banner that is Southern California themed... I don't really have too much in mind other than using some imagery that is commonly associated with Southern California (example: Geeko wearing flip flops sitting under a palm tree... perhaps modify this image with a palm tree replacing the sign, and a nice sunset over the ocean: http://en.opensuse.org/File:Future.png). One thing I would love to have on the banner is the words "openSUSE Project" as the main focus on the banner.... perhaps even include some logos from openQA, Connect, OBS and such... if it doesn't look over crowded by doing so. I really want it to feel like an openSUSE banner but showing people that the Southern California region of the community is active, growing, and proud! Buildasign.com offers a 3ft x 8ft custom banner for about $50. I hope that helps clarify what I am trying to do. -- Drew Adams Member & Ambassador, openSUSE Project -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
