Some background - The 'ugly' grey one was the only one I could find that correctly 'worked' consistently and looked passable in extreme circumstances.
So its my fault :-P
The other buttons are great, but if a good chunk of our users wont see it properly (Intel chip sets don't play nice with grub2) then we're still in a lousy position :-)
Certainly something I hope we look at soon for 12.3

I don't know if it have already been discused on the list, but what do you think about changing the (ugly) grey geeko head the the grub startup splash screen, in 12.2 by another one on this page (at the bottom) : http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Artwork_brand#Buttons
