We first should agree on a timeline.
As soon as possible. Action, showtime is good, but having time to think is better.
Besides that here are some open questions that needs to be clarified:
- Do we want artwork to be based on some kind of concepts?
I listed some, it must be light, nothing heavy binding. You can't ask artist with idea to stick to concept that is not his cup of tea. Too many rules make for too little contributors. It is that simple. I see that in the wiki, and it is present in any project that screams or contributors. IMHO, core of the team must learn rules, and there will be quite some number of them, but newcomer must be free to publish his work without all that. If s/he sticks with group s/he will learn as much as it is needed for his interest.
- Are we open for any kind of submissions (e.g. photos, too)?
Sure, photo can be: - nice background, - nice idea for graphic, - nice combination of both. We want original photos for sure, where original means it was taken by uploader. Good or bad, let we judge when we see them. When weare by upload; we have to decide where to publish images and photos, or to collect all links to SUSE and openSUSE related artwork in a central place. Right now that easy to publish links would be wiki.
- Can we provide gifts for winning concepts (e.g. a bamboo tablet), @jdd do we have budget for that?
Jos has some marketing budget, so he can plan that in, but for that we have to creeate criteria when someone wins.
- Does it really need to be green?
No, basic chameleon color is green, but why to stick with basics :) One thing is trademark that must be green and in particular shape and color, the other is Geeko as common thread in openSUSE. We limited ourselves way to long to a simple shape of trademarked Geeko, with occasional excursions to variations.
- How should we vote for a concept? (email / connect)
Connect openSUSE is the way, as there is already present voting infrastructure. With email we have to count votes manually.
- Who can vote?
Depends on question. Artwork group, members, community, everybody. Literally when we ask particular question we will know for whom it is meant, and any other will just squeue results.
- Can we provide a core team that is responsible for the artwork integration? (building themes, uploading them to git, packaging, testing)
As in any project, there will be few interested that will create core with usual mantra, more work more influence. I'm interested in decoration of a wiki in a first place, but that is not really possibel to separate from other work.
- Does that list have to be reply to author, instead of reply to list ;?
:) There is the way to escape, one can make his own list, or use Forums, Connect, Google groups, etc. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-artwork+owner@opensuse.org
