Dear Nelson.
I'm not the one to speak on behalf of the openSUSE GNOME, but this was discussed previously on a GNOME Team meeting, and we considered the option of changing default branding as long as the maintainer would keep maintaining the package (due to potential G3 changes).
I'm not sure if people are aware, but 'Half-Left' has been working closely with us to provide a full Sonar theme (GNOME Shell and GTK3). Most people I've seen are thrilled with this, and it's a new life in the GNOME channel.
Previously Vincent has requested for someone to port Sonar and use it... Now that's it's done people want to bail out ?
I trully don't understand this... This shouldn't be decided on ARTWORK, but instead with the GNOME Team, this is not the right channel to override decisions and thoughts from the GNOME team people.
I part-wise agree. I know the history and even Vincents request. I also know half-lefts work and honour it. The problem with Sonor is that it really limits the design. So this is of course an artwork issue, too. I hope we could find a solution, together.
