Hello Folks! Jos Poortvliet and I would like to invite members of the Marketing and Artwork teams as well as anyone else who is interested, to our second-ever Marketing Hackfest, 15-16 September, 2011 (immediately after our openSUSE Conference in Nuremberg.) We had our first ever Marketing Hackfest in Los Angeles and the results were extremely positive with very high spirits and participation during our 11.4 release. We will now make an effort to have a marketing team hackfest before each openSUSE release. Please visit http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:12.1_Marketing_Hackfest and add your name to the list of attendees. Those who require hotel assistance will be granted as long as you are an active member of either the marketing or artwork teams. If you are approved for reimbursement, we will contact you. [opensuse-artwork] t-shirt design for the Desktop Summit!

Hi, As you can read here: https://desktopsummit.org/press/sponsors-announced We're going to be Gold sponsor of the Desktop Summit Berlin August 6-12. Pretty awesome of course! We will also sponsor the Soccer match! Now part of that sponsorship is providing food & drinks there. And, coolest thing, we will provide t-shirts! There has been some design work going on already. I dunno the exact status but Marcus has send a nice soccer-playing geeko. Yes, this mail was supposed to be send a while ago but that didn't happen - my mistake. Instead I send a mail referring to this one, sorry about that... Anyway, what we need now: a nice design for the Desktop Summit Soccer match. It will be a mixed match (not KDE vs GNOME vs XFCE or something) and there will be 4 teams so we need 4 distinct colors with preferably one design, incorporating a nice Geeko of course. Idealy, we would have something like a Green, Blue, Red and Yellow shirt so the design should work on those colors but of course other colors are fine too. We need to create about 20 t-shirst of each color and I'd say that if we manage to use Marcus' design he gets one of each color ;-) Cheers, Jos

Greetings folks on the Ambassadors, Artwork and Marketing Teams! As you know, the CFP for openSUSE Conference deadline is coming very close this weekend. As part of the CFP Committee, I have reviewed proposed sessions and saw some missing stuff so far, which I think we should consider. I have created four proposals tonight though I have not attached any moderators to them yet. (I wanted to get them in before we miss the deadline.) BoF Proposals: "openSUSE Ambassadors Discussion": A BoF to bring together our openSUSE Ambassadors and discuss strategies for the coming year. (Manu and Kostas, do you wish to lead this session?) "Organizing our Artwork Repositories": A look at the current state of our openSUSE Artwork GIT repository and discussing ideas about ways to improve availability and access of artwork for everyone. (I propose one person from Marketing and one from Artwork to co-moderate this BoF. Any volunteers?) Hacksession Proposals: "Marketing Team - Multimedia Planning" Let's storyboard some ideas for cool openSUSE videos that we can use at events and online. In this hacksession, we will organize our thoughts and create basic storyboards for videos and podcasts (Several of us have had some excellent ideas over the years but we never moved forward on it. Its time we came together and put those ideas to good use. JDD, would you like to co-moderate this with me?) " openSUSE 12.1 Artwork" Review of artwork for 12.1 promotion and 12.1 Desktops (I'm not exactly sure what is needed here, but I put it in anyway. Does anyone from Artwork Team wish to moderate this hacksession?) If any of you have ideas for other topics, *please* submit them soon. It is better for the CFP team to have many topics to review than too few. And I know many of you have awesome ideas. I see a few already from some of you! Thanks! Friends, I've asked a while ago if anyone was interested in creating t-shirts for the Desktop Summit Fußball (soccer) match on the -artwork list. I haven't seen responses but the t-shirts MUST be created, so I'll now have to ask Robert: can you please whip together something with a geeko on the front and the DS logo on the back (see below) or the other way around? We need 4 colors, each 20 t-shirts. We need them on August 9th in Berlin. Can you take care of that? Graphics can be found on: https://desktopsummit.org/press The 4 colors can be anything but I think, while it'd be funny, most ppl wouldn't appreciate it if you go with pink, purple, lime and yellow or so ;-) Cheers, Jos

Not every system uses firefox (servers don't, lots of chromium, opera and other users out there). I do like the idea of having a nice custom homepage for firefox so in that regard I'm all for it. And, following manu, I can only ask if anyone here or on the artist list (CC'ed) might be interested in making such a standard homepage?

I personally like both quite a bit but the idea of Zentrifuge (see http://bit.ly/qmEtr7 for inspiration). The suse labs logo might also be used, but I can't find that one. Bet Robert knows where it is and can put it in git ;-) So as I mailed before to the artwork list, ONE of these two poster designs will end up in all linux-magazine magazines (english, german and other ones) next month. I'm unsure if the poster(s) need work for that. Can we put a poster about the oSC in a magazine which has pretty much only a logo and a Qr code? Maybe we should, it IS cool, I dunno... I feel we should tell ppl 'everyone invited' or something. Or do something with Zentrifuge, I dunno. I suck at art, as you know. So, if anyone comes up with an improved version of one of the posters, that'd be awesome. Otherwise, we will have to pick from these two. > Alan

Hey all, Right now we have two openSUSE artwork repositories - the opensuse/art one and the opensuse-artwork one. The second has mostly marketingy stuff, the first one has mostly openSUSE app splashes and the like. But there is overlap. I'd like to clean it up and I'm willing to do the cleaning. That would result in all marketing materials (flyers, posters etc) going to the opensuse-artwork one and the distribution-related stuff going to opensuse/art. Yes, if anyone knows if we could rename opensuse-artwork into opensuse- marketing that would be awesome :D Cheers, Jos
