[opensuse-artwork] Icon sizes

Hi,
I think the Large icons
(Definiton: http://tango.freedesktop.org/Tango_Icon_Theme_Guidelines) are consuming too much space on the desktop and in the file manager.
I'd like to know what the reason is for using so big icons? I think medium would be better. (Maybe it's a user error but I didn't find an easy way to change these icons' sizes. I'm using SLED10.)
