Hi everyone,
I have two RPi3 boards here. One was purchased directly when it came out beginning of 2016, the second one around half a year later.
The newer one probably has a newer bootrom, they added support for e.g. USB boot after the initial shipments.
I'm not entirely sure how, but I've got it working. I've used the bootcode.bin firmware file from [1] and the description from [2]. [1] https://github.com/raspberrypi/firmware/raw/next/boot/bootcode.bin [2] https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentation/hardware/raspberrypi/bootmodes/ As I said, I'm not 100% sure that this was the fix, because I've tested Leap booting not directly afterwards. I've connected my USB serial converter also just after using the SD card with the bootcode.bin file. Anyway, I'm back on track with both Pis. So thanks for the hint with the bootrom. ;)
I mainly used the second one for openSUSE testing. Just now I wanted to do the same with the first board but I'm unable to boot into the system. The boot sequence is interrupted right after grub and then the system starts again from the beginning, cycling forever.
Both boards have a similar layout with V1.2 written onto it. So I have no idea where to start to identify this issue.
Anyone any idea?
Have you tried grabbing the output from the serial console? Either using a USB-serial converter, or connect the two PIs, GND straight, UART RX/TX crossed.
Ciao,
Alex~
