<package name="python-base" bootinclude="true"/>
The package has easily unneeded things: unit-test, distutils and pydoc for instance. I think it could be striped somehow, but I can not find what stuff requires python in initrd.
Moreover, python-base is marked as type="delete" in kiwi/system/boot/armv7l/oemboot/suse-13.2.
I don't have an answer for you, but you could simply branch the JeOS package (which should also branch all the linked packages) and check yourself whether dropping that line causes any build failures or suspicious build log output.
An issue here, that it just works for me with <package name="python-base"> and compressed initrd size reduced to 41 MB from 48 MB. Great problem, that kiwi xml description does not have changelogs like rpm does, I need to ask constantly. -- With best regards, Matwey V.
