[opensuse-arm] Status of Raspberry Pi for openSUSE

Hallo, for half a year we're trying now to get openSUSE working on Raspberry Pi and still no success. The normal images don't build and the replacement image from http://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi works, but is ARM5 and thus does not work together with any project in the OBS, as these are all ARM6. On OBS it seems impossible to build anything from ARM5 anymore. So in my eyes the state is: - a non-standard image can be installed and works, but it is impossible to build packages for it. - all packages build in OBS are for ARM6, but can't be used, as I have no image to start from. Is there anything I overlook? How do I use Raspberry Pi with openSUSE and especially with the chance to build own packages for it? [opensuse-arm] Problems with Parted

Hi all, I installed parted on a fresh install on a RasPi using zypper. The version in the armv5tel repository is 2.4-29.1. This version has a bug as I was trying to make a new partition on the SD card to expand the free space after copying the image to the card using dd. The following text is from the output trying to make a new primary partition: (parted) mkpart primary 29744,0,0 60503,3,31 You found a bug in GNU Parted! Here's what you have to do: Don't panic! The bug has most likely not affected any of your data. Help us to fix this bug by doing the following: Check whether the bug has already been fixed by checking the last version of GNU Parted that you can find at: http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/parted/ Please check this version prior to bug reporting. If this has not been fixed yet or if you don't know how to check, please visit the GNU Parted website: http://www.gnu.org/software/parted for further information. Also include any additional information about your setup you consider important. Unable to determine the size and length of /dev/mmcblk0_part1. I went around this and installed from source v.3.11 but I had to solve for dependencies: util-linux-ng (which I had to install without ncurses even though it was already installed), termcap and readline. This last one crippled zypper, so I had to reinstall readline. My question is, why is it that the parted rpm in the repositories is not the latest one? [opensuse-arm] Run current openSUSE ARM in QEMU?

I'm looking for a way to run one of current openSUSE in QEMU. I need real hardware emulation with U-Boot as I'm going to test grub2 for ARM port. Unfortunately I did not have much luck so far. I tried 12.2 for versatile express and it did initial boot but failed to reboot after that. On https://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Arndale there are instructions how to run it in QEMU - unforutnately, the "Get a working guest kernel for versatile express" looks rather vague. Can I get it from OBS? [opensuse-arm] Problems with chkconfig on vsftpd, ddclient and apache2

Hello group, I have been configuring an RPi (model B) with OpenSuse distribution from the website (http://en.opensuse.org/HCL:Raspberry_Pi), and I have encountered a couple of issues: 1) Difficulties with the automatic start (boot time) of the vsftp and apache2 daemons: I followed instructions to set it up for running at init levels 3 and 5 using chkconfig, and although it says it is running and is on for those two runlevels, when I do 'ps -ef grep apache2' it shows it in the off position ( /sbin/chkconfig --list apache2 ). The error showing up within /var/apache2/error_log when I manually start apache2 (/etc/init.d/apache2 start) is: [Fri Jul 26 03:40:54 2013] [warn] Init: Session Cache is not configured [hint: S SLSessionCache] [Fri Jul 26 03:40:54 2013] [notice] suEXEC mechanism enabled (wrapper: /usr/sbin /suexec2) [Fri Jul 26 03:40:55 2013] [notice] Apache/2.2.22 (Linux/SUSE) mod_ssl/2.2.22 Op enSSL/1.0.1e configured -- resuming normal operations there is no entry on the log at boot time, hence suggesting it is not even trying to turn it on automatically. 2) Problems with YaST2: I followed instructions to configure the RPi using yast, but when I run it the only thing I can see is 'Miscellaneous' on the left column. I quit that and then try bringing on the GUI by yast2 --qt or --gui too but then it brings me the same blue background yast window with the lonely 'Miscellaneous' menu. I even rebooted to see whether it would refresh it, but nothing. 3) Perl module IO-Socket-SSL : The perl script ddclient to refresh DHCP IP's with the dyn server requires the module IO-Socket-SSL, which is absent in the arm repositories. However, I found the module on a different place (no arch) and got it through wget, but when I tried installing it, it complained that compiling it with a different compiler from the openssl and perl rpms from the repository might introduce problems. Hi Andreas, The armv6l build of glibc failed: https://build.opensuse.org/package/live_build_log/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/glib… in [ 7467s] /home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILD/glibc-2.17/cc-base/crypt/libowcrypt_pic.a(crypt_gensalt.os): In function `_crypt_gensalt_traditional_rn': [ 7467s] /home/abuild/rpmbuild/BUILD/glibc-2.17/crypt/crypt_gensalt.c:42: undefined reference to `__aeabi_read_tp' This looks pretty similar to https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=781765 which has this bug fix: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/attachment.cgi?id=557296&action=diff However, it seems like only the root cause is the same, not the effect of what we're seeing. Hi, llvm fail because it cannot apply a patch. I cannot fix it since when I branch it I get the devel project version, without the patch which need to be fixed (neon patch). See: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/openSUSE:Factory:ARM/llvm Does anyone could fix it, please? Because lots of packages depends on LLVM.
