script/binary from?
Has anyone able to compile MPlayer on AMD64 with fullscreen capabalities?

Then uname will not report the 64bit architecture anymore.
Then you can " CC="gcc -m32" ./configure"
Give that a shot.

Just looked, MPlayer's configure uses uname to get the architecture, and
doesn't use the config.guess from autoconfig - and therefore also doesn't have the override parameters. A possibility would be to put a fake uname into some location that's before /bin in the path.
