Hello,
I have a sharp zaurus, the sl-6000, and it appears that after my upgrade to 9.3 the device is no longer seen. Specifically, I cannot connect with usb networking. The kernel notices when i plug it in, but the usb0 ethernet device is not created.
I have read that this is a known problem with the 2.6.11 kernel, so I was wondering if there will be an update to a 2.6.12 kernel. or a patch to 2.6.11 that will allow me to continue connecting to my zaurus.
I have Suse9.3 on my Iwill ZMaxdp talking to my Zaurus SL5500 running OpenZaurus 3.5.2 or 3.5.3 OK.
I created the file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-usb0 with the appropriate settings and set the machine to masquerade for the Internal network and all seems reasonably happy.
I have configured ifcfg-usb0 : BOOTPROTO='static' BROADCAST='192.168.129.255' IPADDR='192.168.129.1' MTU='' NAME='Ethernet Network Card' NETMASK='255.255.255.0' NETWORK='192.168.129.0' REMOTE_IPADDR='' STARTMODE='hotplug' USERCONTROL='yes' _nm_name='static-0' But here are the log messages I get (edited for readability) : Jul 22 saturn kernel: usb 2-1.1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 5 Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb.handmap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /lib/modules/2.6.11.4-21.7-smp/modules.usbmap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/ISDN.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/alsasound.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/tascam_fw.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/usb.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB Sharp SL-6000' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/usbcam.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb.handmap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /lib/modules/2.6.11.4-21.7-smp/modules.usbmap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/ISDN.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/alsasound.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/tascam_fw.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/usb.usermap) Jul 22 saturn 50-usb.hotplug: No drivers for 'USB product 4dd/9032/0' (from /etc/hotplug/usb/usbcam.usermap) And here is a link to information regarding this being a known problem with the 2.6.11 kernel : http://www.mail-archive.com/linux-usb-devel@lists.sourceforge.net/msg35713.h... I haven't tried the patch indicated at the end of this thread but I may if no new kernel is on the horizon. Thanks, edward
