I observe the speed with alias "speed=cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_setspeed" Under no load, speed should give 800. Plug in the power cord, and try cat /dev/zero >/dev/null and observe what speed tells you (other shell).
