I did have bad problems with the sk98lin driver. My NIS/NFS server
serves the /home, and nearly each time I logged into my A8V workstation,
it froze immediately. Disabling the Marvell chip and using an RTL8139
made that go away for good.

According to Andi Kleen's comments on this list from Jan 6/7, 2005,
this is a known problem but it hasn't been fixed yet (at least not in
2.6.8-SL92_BRANCH_20050216124101-default). This problem seems not to
occur with every IP protocol but NFS is apparently one of them.
