On an hp pavilion zv5000 unit (Athlon 64) running SuSE 9.2 (and dual boot into windows XP), I was having some USB issues. USB storage devices would be recognized without any problems, but USB mice would not. Well, that was almost correct. If, when dual booted into windows XP, I would close the lid, putting the unit into power save mode, and then wake it from that, reboot into linux, the USB mouse now works. Until I reboot linux that is. Then I have to iterate that procedure to get the USB mouse to work. It works reliably as a procedure, but it seems, well, somehow, not quite what we should be doing to get a working mouse. Note also, that FC3 has the same issue with this on this machine, so it is not distribution specific. I suspect that it has something to do with the state that the wake-up routines leave the USB ports in, as compared to a normal cold boot.
