installing 32-bit Xine/Mplayer on 64-bit system

In order to play .wmv files and other windows multimedia formats I've used the
wincodec RPM on my 32-bit machine. I'd like to use those same windows codecs
on my 64-bit machine. It is my understanding that 64-bit Mplayer/Xine can't
use 32-bit dll files. Therefore, I've tried to install a 32-bit version of
those players.

I've tried to install a 32-bit version of Xine by selecting a 32-bit packman
version of xine-ui and libxine using Yast (I added packman to Yast sources).
The install went OK and all dependencies should have been OK. But when I
tried to run xine it reported that the shared lib libcurl could not be found.
A 64-bit version of libcurl is installed but I was unable to install a 32-bit
version without removing the 64-bit version (using Yast). Next, I copied
libcurl from a 32-bit system to /usr/lib on my 64-bit machine. When i started
xine, my machine crashed, hardly the result I was looking for.

Does anyone know a way to get the 32-bit codecs working on my 64-bit machine?

Thanks in advance,
Klaas

P.S. Is there a way to search the list archives? Browsing the archives is just
not very efficient...
