Help, I need some advice on ACPI.

My system has been randomly crashing for some time in 9.1 and now in
9.2 :-( not had more than a few hours uptime for a long time.
But by starting in failsafe mode, I can work quite happily with no
crashes. I'm guessing from other posts that this is probably a
combination of the nvidia drivers and my systems ACPI.
I followed http://acpi.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/SUSE%209.0%3A%
20HOWTO%20load%20custom%20DSDT%20table%20%28you%20don%27t%20need%20to%
20recompile%20your%20kernel%29?action=BackLinks as far as recompiling
the original DSDT table and I get the following:

<Snip>
eheath@espresso:/tmp> /usr/sbin/iasl -tc dsdt.dsl

Intel ACPI Component Architecture
ASL Optimizing Compiler / AML Disassembler version 20040220 [Oct 2
2004]
Copyright (C) 2000 - 2004 Intel Corporation
Supports ACPI Specification Revision 2.0c

dsdt.dsl 358: Method (\_WAK, 1, NotSerialized)
Warning 2026 - ^ Reserved method must return a value
(_WAK)

dsdt.dsl 4551: Store (Local0, Local0)
Error 1013 - ^ Method local variable
is not initialized (Local0)

ASL Input: dsdt.dsl - 5260 lines, 151118 bytes, 2196 keywords
Compilation complete. 1 Errors, 1 Warnings, 0 Remarks, 473 Optimizations
<Snip>

If I attempt to fix this and load it in the Initrd, am I basically
setting myself up for a world of pain? (I dont know assembler yet!)

Also, by running with ACPI disabled am I likely to encounter any issues
other than the box not powering off on shutdown? The admin guide
suggests that 64bit boxes rely heavily on ACPI!

Any advice greatfully received.

Ed
