The tools work right?

Autoconf is an extensible package of m4 macros that produce
shell scripts to automatically configure software source code
packages. These scripts can adapt the packages to many kinds
of UNIX-like systems without manual user intervention.

They're supposed to use their knowledge of the host operating
system to make it easy to create the correct Makefiles.
Are you saying that autoconf is unable to build correct Makefiles
on the SuSE 64-bit environment because it is not "UNIX-like"?
