Mathias, Cool - thanks for the info. Someone else suggested off-list that the qlogic series worked for them too, so it's sounding like the way I'll go. Roy Mathias Gustavsson wrote:
Hi,
I have used qlogic qla2200 and qla2300 with SLES8 and it has worked perfectly. In fact we have switched to using the qla2300 on all Linux / UNIX servers at my job. The driver even comes with failover functionallity, i think it is an option in modules.conf that activates / deactivates the function. The failover functionallity in the driver works, but we use MD's multipathing functionallity instead (kernel 2.4). And i think there is a new way in recent 2.6 kernels that handles this even better (forgot the name).

We're considering using an Opteron-based system as a file-serving head to a SAN built around a Brocade SilkWorm 3250 switch. According to Brocade's Compatibility Matrix at:

the Emulex LightPulse LP9002L fibre channel HBA at:

works and is (or was) supported under SuSE 7.0. Has anyone used this or another HBA successfully in a similar environment under a recent SuSE release? If so, would you share your experiences and recommendations? I checked for the LightPulse HBA specifically and fibre channel HBA support in general in SuSE's component database, but couldn't find anything.
Thanks! Roy
