Yes. 64 bit. I use Kaffeine in preference to xine, though.
- If so, is there a source somewhere with step by step instructions on how to accomplish that? Instructions geared to a complete newbie...
Instructions for xine-lib
- Download xine-lib source from http://sourceforge.net/projects/xine/. I used xine-lib-1-rc3c. I also tried xine-lib-1-rc4a, but it had an assembler bug, which has apparently been fixed in xine-lib-1-rc5.
- Unpack source to a build directory.
- In the build directory, run ./configure --enable-libsuffix=64 --prefix=/opt/kde3
- Then run make
- Then run make install
and you are done.
I can send you my config.log, make.out and make-install.out if you want to see the details.
Thanks, I really appreciate the step by step instructions. Unfortunately, the make dies, complaining about a missing 'libpopt.la' file in /usr/lib64 module-2.0 -ldl -lglib-2.0 ../../src/xine-engine/libxine.la grep: /usr/lib64/libpopt.la: No such file or directory /bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib64/libpopt.la: No such file or directory libtool-nofpic: link: `/usr/lib64/libpopt.la' is not a valid libtool archive make[4]: *** [xineplug_inp_gnome_vfs.la] Error 1 make[4]: Leaving directory `/home/helphand/Documents/xine/xine-lib-1-rc5/src/input' make[3]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/home/helphand/Documents/xine/xine-lib-1-rc5/src/input' make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/helphand/Documents/xine/xine-lib-1-rc5/src' make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/helphand/Documents/xine/xine-lib-1-rc5' make: *** [all] Error 2 The lib64 directory does have libpopt.so but no .la helphand:/usr/lib64 # ls -la libpop* lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2004-07-03 15:24 libpopt.so.0 -> libpopt.so.0.0.0 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 38771 2004-04-25 10:19 libpopt.so.0.0.0 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 2004-07-03 14:46 libpopt.so.1 -> libpopt.so.1.0.0 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 38771 2004-04-25 10:19 libpopt.so.1.0.0 I have no clue what it all means..... I'm gonna go give xine-lib-1-rc3c a try just in case this is a new problem with rc5. Scott -- POPFile, the OpenSource EMail Classifier http://popfile.sourceforge.net/ Linux 2.6.5-7.95-default x86_64
