I just got this to work. took a couple tries, but I think the steps are - uninstall xine-ui and xine that comes with Suse - download the xine-lib and xine-ui source from xinehq.de - configure xine-lib using ./configure --libdir=/usr/lib64 - make / make install - configure xine-ui using just './configure' (--libdir=/usr/lib64 probably doesn't hurt) - make / make install if you install any other libraries (e.g. libdvdcss), make sure to add the --libdir=/usr/lib64 switch for 'configure'.
