i just solved the problem with esound i posted here.
I recompiled the esound package with the configure
option --disable-alsa, now the esd works with OSS :-)

But the esound should work with Alsa AND
without recompiling it - just have a look at the
A multiplexing and caching sound daemon. It can
utilize either ALSA or
OSS for sound output. Many projects, including
Enlightenment and GNOME,
use esound to play and record their sounds.

The esound package provided by SuSE works ONLY with
Alsa. It seems to be a bug in the esound package;
if not it should be declared that this esound package
works only with Alsa and needs recompilation for OSS.

to the SuSE developers here:
Should i send this in as a bug report or is it just
posting it here ?

best regards
