Hi Andi, This worked well, thanks for the tip on where to get that boot disk. One other thing, in rebuild of the latest 2.6.5 kernel on the SUSE website, despite setting the CFGNAME and CFGRELEASE in the .config via 'make config', the kernel is always built with 'default' as the tag line. Modules and installation work as expected, with the right 'CFG' variable. Grepping through the makefiles, I couldn't find the reference to 'default' except in arch/x86_64/defconfig. Any suggestions? I'm a reasonably capable engineer, but this document confused me a bit...Can you clarify it a bit for me?
I understand that the boot CD needs the /yast/order file in order to specify my http:// source which is the original 9.1 DVD. It looks like I don't need the /yast/instorder file since I only have one source.
The order files are loaded from the network source. Just use F3 -> http install and point it to the URL.
To boot you can use the boot iso image from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/x86_64/9.1/boot/boot.iso
