I have a dual Opteron 246, 8 gig, arima MB, lsi Megaraid dual channel scsi, system with no end of problems getting stable.
SLES 8 install goes fine, online update via YAST2 goes smoothly. Then it will not boot. Kernel panic because it can not see the disk, thus cannot get to init. GRUB installed everywhere, no help. LILO used instead of GRUB, no help. Worked with SuSE support through everything they could suggest, no fix. Reinstall of SLES with ext2 instead of Reiserfs, no help.
There're two megaraid drivers with out latest kernel. Try to load the megaraid2 for a change, Andreas
Flashed the BIOS up to the latest, blew away the LSI bios, and then could not boot even to a DOS diskette. Awaiting new LSI card.
Anybody seeing similar behavior out there? Anybody done the on-line update with SLES successfully? Any tips much appreciated.
