I have a dual+proc AMD with 8GB ram. (http://www.penguincomputing.com/store/altus-3200.php) After install the only way I can boot is in safe mood with "maxproc=0 3" noacpi and noapm don't seem to let me boot, I always get "unable to find root fs". When I do get into the system irc_balancer always fales and I'm really not sure what that means. After awhile though when I start doing some intesive tasks (recovering backup) the system locks up and dies, the terminal spits out "general protection fault" but isn't able to write it to the log. sle8 btw seems to work fine, but I'd much rather use SUSE 9 AMD with this system. So I'm guessing there is something wrong with the megaraid module (LSI MegaRAID 320-2) or some weird issues with SUSE 9 AMD64bit itself. Also is there any tools I can use to test the memory on a 64bit system? There is no memory tester on the boot CD for 9, and sle8 cd says there is no image. fun fun fun. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. THanks, Keith kpettit@dsidata.net
