Hi all
maybe it's interesting that Tyan offers first sil3114 SATA Controller Raid/Non-Raid for SuSE and RedHat AMD64 on 16.01.2004. These are general Linux drivers, not for Tyan-boards only, but still Beta Release. ftp://ftp.tyan.com/drivers_linux/Silicon_Image/3114/ http://www.tyan.com/l_german/support/html/drivers_linux.html
I've tried exactly this driver for my Tyan Thunder K8W. The disk with driver was successfully scanned during "fresh" SuSE 9 installation (I saw this at CTRL-ALT-F4 window). Then YaST2 starts and searches all resources to preset the configuration for installation. and here comes an old problem: YaST2 sais: "Error: no hard disk were found for the installation. Please check your hardware." hm, well, /proc/scsi/SiI6514/0 shows that driver is on, in particular two MAXTOR HDDs are attached but /proc/scsi/scsi gives: attached devices: none. What is nonsense, because HDDs are attached as RAID-0 through the BIOS. Guys and girls, any success here? Thanks a priori. -- Valery A.Khamenya
