Hello,
we have some trouble with SuSE 8.2 Beta x86-64 Prof. Ed. on a TYAN Thunder K8S (S2880) BIOS 2.01 (newest): On installing there are two onboard Broadcom Gigabit NIS detected (BCM5704) but if the driver (bcm5700)is loaded :"cannot get MAC addr from NVRAM" is displayed and so eth0 and eth1 are FAILED.
Does the tg3 driver work? There're two different drivers for the cards...
Also the DOS-Diskette-Tool 57udiag.exe from Broadcom give one error: "CPU-Test failed: register 5034 is 0xd", rest is PASSED. Perhaps a tool for 32bit non-Opteron systems??
A DOS disk should work with any Opteron system. So, if this does not work, it looks like some hardware problem to me, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, aj@suse.de, http://www.suse.de/~aj SuSE Linux AG, Deutschherrnstr. 15-19, 90429 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
