Have you tried SUSE Studio? Need to create a Live CD, an app you want
to package and distribute , or create your own linux distro. Give SUSE
Studio a try. www.susestudio.com.

2011/2/7 Kostas Koudaras <warlordfff@xxxxxxxxx>:
Hi people
I would like all to give a warm welcome to our first Australian
ambassador Tim Serong.
Below you can learn more about him and his relationship with openSUSE.
* What have you done already for openSUSE?
On the software front, I got the packages in network:ha-clustering and
network:ha-clustering:Factory up-to-date and submitted for the
openSUSE 11.3 release (prior to that, those packages hadn't seen any
updates for some time). Hopefully I still have enough time for
another update there for 11.4, and can provide more regular updates
going forwards.
On the promotion front, I was at LCA 2011 two weeks ago, where I met
Jos Poortvliet and manned the openSUSE booth at open day with him.
* What are your plans for promoting openSUSE? Please tell us what you
want to do the next 6 months.
- Distribute DVDs to a couple of local Linux user groups (I have some
left over that Jos brought with him to LCA which I can use
immediately).
- See if I can give a talk about SUSE Studio at one of the local
SAGE-AU (System Administrators Guild of Australia) monthly meetings,
and also at the SAGE-AU national conference in September.
- Likewise, see if I can give a talk about the openSUSE Build Service
at OSDC later in the year (http://osdc.com.au/)
* Are you ready to start promoting openSUSE?
I sure hope so :)
* What do you think is the best kept secret of openSUSE?
Off the top of my head:
- It "just works" on my ThinkPad.
- Supporting/related infrastructure (OBS, SUSE Studio).
- zypper
- YaST is actually good (there has apparently been some persistent
mythology around YaST breaking manually edited configuration in older
releases).
- Very neat packaging of ruby gems, if you're into Ruby.
* Why do you love to do this?
Because I enjoy seeing people use software that I helped to create,
especially if they're happy about it. And if not, I'd like to find
out why not, so we can fix it.
* How did you start with with Linux/openSUSE? What is your level of
experience?
I started using Linux some time in the late 1990s. My first distro
was Slackware, which I chose over RedHat because Slackware forced me
to learn more in order to build a running system. I've been running
Linux servers of one flavour or another (RedHat, Fedora, Gentoo,
Debian, Ubuntu, SLES, openSUSE) ever since, and have been using Linux
more or less exclusively on my desktop and laptop since about 2005. I
started using openSUSE shortly thereafter, around about the 10.0 or
10.1 release. I spend most of my time now hacking on the various
packages that make up the SLE High Availability Extension.
