Hi! As I stated today during the meeting, please, update following way the source parsers in ZYPP: For SuSEtags add to the content file TYPE base for the base product; if not present, it is an add-on product For YUM, we already have in the metadata definition attribute type { text }, which should have values "base" or "add-on"; the parser itself has nandling this attribute commented out. The zypp::Product::category should return the type of the product. Since we broke even source-code compatibility of the library as whole anyway, it may make sense to rename it to zypp::Product::type to be consistent with the metadata. Thanks in advance! [zypp-devel] option repo.add.probe and repo enablement

I just changed the way repositories are added. Before, zypper probed the repositories in case the --type option was not given, and then always tried to give ZYpp a valid type. However ZYpp also did some probing, so I removed all ZYpper related code. How does it work now? - If type is given, the repository is added and the given type is used. - If zypp.conf repo.add.probe is enabled, the repository is probed either type is given or not - If type is not given the repository is probed no matter if repo.add.probe is off. - if you want to avoid network access completely, always specify the type when adding and set repo.probe.url to 0 - if you want avoid network access when not needed, set repo.probe.url to off, then network will be accessed only if the repository type is unknown. - If you want to always check, set repo.probe.url to 1 Also, zypper autorefresh and enabled options are fixed so the priority is: - what you specified in the command line - the .repo file you are adding - libzypp defaults -- Duncan Mac-Vicar Prett Novell :: SUSE R&D, Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: zypp-devel+unsubscribe(a)opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: zypp-devel+help(a)opensuse.org

[zypp-devel] SerialNumber for ResPool.

As we need some serial number indicating a changed ResPool content, I added 2 simple classes SerialNumber and SerialNumberWatcher to zypp/base/SerialNumber.h This should be ok for a simple polling solution. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// // // CLASS NAME : SerialNumber // /** Simple serial number provider. * * \ref serial returns a serial number. Thanks Jano, the new libzypp brings great speed and feature improvements. I am looking forward to generally use it on 10.2 when all the yast stuff works too. [zypp-devel] Getting rid of boost::regex !?

Coolo asked whether we can get rid of libboost_regex, as it requires to much memory in the instsys (not libboost_regex but the libraries it requires). As far as I see it will affect: KeyRing Edition Applydeltarpm RpmDb Url / UrlBase CapabilityImpl PublicKey MediaSetAccess plaindir/RepoParser This is pretty vital stuff. Example use case: when initializing repos (checking if to refresh for those with autorefresh enabled), if the app finds out the repo is invalid, it can disable it in its internal set and ignore it for the rest of the operation.
