Hi! Trying to run the web-client from git, in some cases even at the very first page, I get: Status: 500 Internal Server Error ActionController::Session::CookieStore::CookieOverflow in the output, followed by the call trace. What causes it? How do I work it around or (even better) fix it? Cleaning-up stored cookies in the browser helped. Just in case it happens to someone as well... Anyway, the session ID - related cookes should IMO have reasonable size so that they fit into the cookie store... Hmm, didn't happen to me yet. So what kind of crash was it and where did it happen _exactly_ ? Its hard to improve WebYaST robustness without somewhat detailed error reports :-(

I hoped that I was not the first one who saw this issue :-/ Sorry, I should have kept the cookies :-( The error occurred when I tried to display the control panel (the browser already had the cookie, therefore pointing browser to localhost:3000 was all I did to get the error. Don't worry, I just got this error myself :-}

Got it ! Googling for 'cookieoverflow' led to uncommenting config.action_controller.session_store = :active_record_store in config/environment.rb Then rake db:sessions:create and rake db:migrate This moves the session store to the database and only stores a small database ID in the session cookie. Then sqlite3 db/development.sqlite3 select data from sessions then copy-and-paste to a tempfile The tempfile is already approx. 8k large, clearly more than the 4k cookie limit ;-} Doing base64 -d <tempfile> finally revealed the real problem: ActionController::Flash::FlashHash contained a complete Exception stack trace. Apparently the hash cannot be created from plain error message, an XML string is expected.

And "Authenticate Successful for rest-server ID nil" message also seems strange.

I get the overflow error when I press [Back] in the browser and then I press [Login] again.

The overflow error then happens for all pages, I have logout manually via http://localhost:3000/logout

I'll check the permissions...

I think that this is another problem, that I also hit. I have fixed that in GIT, now the plain error message is returned when NoMethodError is caught during xml parsing. Now it works for me, the control panel is displayed after logging in. But there is an error ("HTTP Basic: Access denied.") on the top of the page.
