[opensuse-wiki] DEWIKI: 4 MB limit in the new German wiki to low for importing ''Product highlights" from EN-Wiki (ca. 12 MB)
Hello, would somebody with the according privileges (and knowledge) please increase the server limit for http://dewiki.opensuse.org/Spezial:Importieren (at least for some time)? OR himself/herself (export and) import the article on http://en.opensuse.org/Product_highlights to http://dewiki.opensuse.org/Product_highlights with history and authors? I achieved to download a file (hopefully the article with history). But as my system says that this are 12,0 MB (12583039 Bytes) - the file seems to be too big (I tried the upload/import anyhow - but without success...) I don't think it's neccesary to import pages with full history from the english to the german wiki, as the content will be rewritten completely anyway. This only makes sense when transitioning from the old english to the new english wiki for example. So I'd suggest to either directly start with a german version of that page, or import it without history (74KB). Maybe someone else will follow this suggestion. And maybe someone else would also compile a program written for openSUSE to a version for Ubuntu without citing the original authors in this 'new' package. I do not intent to 1) write a complete new article *nor* 2) translate the work of others without naming the authors and so violate the licence ( GNU Free Documentation License) *nor* 3) go through the hole history and pick up the authors manually In addition it makes much sense to see the original changes also in an other language - for example if something seems to be wrong and you want to try to retrace the cause of the fault. So whoever wants to act in that way - have a lot of fun especially with the still buggy "Terms and Conditions" Martin Seidler -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

I just wanted to point out a solution that we can use now, as the upload of that big file does not work, and we are not able to change that right now. Maybe another option is to add a note that the article is a translation of the english one with a link to: http://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Product_highlights&action=history so one can see the original authors.

You mean: http://dewiki.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Urheberrecht ? What's the issue there? Comment during article import will land in comments, and it will persist any article editing, so that is a good option to keep connection between original article and translation. BTW, no need to link article history, it will be enough: http://en.opensuse.org/Product_highlights Anyone can look at the history of original when it is known where text came from. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org
