[opensuse-wiki] How to integrate Zonker's blog properly
Hi, Zonker's blog is up and running (http://zonker.opensuse.org/) called openSUSE spotlight. But I don't see any links from en.opensuse.org or news.opensuse.org. Am I just to blind to see them or aren't they there? What about adding openSUSE spotlight to the left nav, "openSUSE" box where the other contents like Get Software, Build Software, News etc. are listed. With text "openSUSE Spotlight"? At least on news.o.o there is a second box "openSUSE Links" it could be added too. We can add his blog in the opensuse-box ... e.g. under News? We can call it Spotlight (I think that force missunderstandings), Evangelist, Zonker ... something-realy-groovy-u-suggest ;-) I add it to my ToDo list. Maybe Steve could do it direktly at news.o.o? Cheers! Robert

You add something to a todo list before discussion has finished? Bye, Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

I add it to my ToDo list. Maybe Steve could do it direktly at news.o.o? news.o.o has the same openSUSE box. So I'd vote for doing it same on all pages and not as by Steve proposed under the "link" area. And second, I'd wait a day or so that other on the list can give their input :-) M
Cheers! Robert

<irony> Heading for the 10, are we? This makes it the seventh "officially" linked openSUSE webserver (not counting the community server, the ftp server, bugzilla, download,...). What about the board's blog? newbie.opensuse.org? events.opensuse.org? documentation.opensuse.org? ... Perhaps we should add other technologies, too - a tomcat server would suit fine. PLONE, anyone? </irony> Seriously, we should think about consolidation and not about "What server to add this month". Apart from that, I'd vote for the openSUSE box in the left navigation, too. Using it ensures that the blog can be reached from any one of our servers. -- Regards Frank Frank Sundermeyer, Technical Writer, Documentation SUSE Linux Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg Tel: +49-911-74053-0, Fax: +49-911-7417755; http://www.opensuse.org/ SUSE Linux Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nuernberg) "Reality is always controlled by the people who are most insane" Dogbert --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

I definitely think having it linked from all sites would be serious overkill. If anything, have Planet SUSE linked there, and have it linked from one of the boxes on news.o.o Kind thoughts, -- Francis Giannaros http://francis.giannaros.org --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

This seems like a much better suggestion. I'm not sure if planetsuse should be all sites though, as the signal to noise ratio on planetsuse is pretty terrible. Why not just have the news link on all sites [It already is], and link to planetsuse from there. I don't see why Zonker's blog needs to be particularly prominent, if something's important enough for everyone to need to see, it should be a news.opensuse.org story. Otherwise I don't see why it's more important than anyone else's blog on planetsuse. -- Benjamin Weber --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-wiki+help@opensuse.org

Otherwise I don't see why it's more important than anyone else's blog on planetsuse. Good point. Then I suggest moving the "openSUSE links" box up. Currently they are at the very bottom of the left nav. At least archive and categories are in my opinion less important than the links. M

Zonker is btw fine with the current amount of linkage to his blog. :-)

I moved the "openSUSE Likns" box up on news.o.o, if that's fine for everyone I will do the same also for zonker.o.o.
