Thank you for bringing this to my attention. The problem was that the wiki was not getting the configured values from the database and so pulled the default values for the sidebar into memcached. A restart of memcached fixed the problem right away.

Matthew,

The left sidebar is in default MediaWiki status, with empty SEARCH, TOOLBOX,
LANGUAGES.

"Navigation" is default too:
Main Page
Community portal
Current events
Recent changes
Random page
Help

The content of http://en.opensuse.org/MediaWiki:Sidebar doesn't show at all,
and it should be listed in "Navigation".
