Mates: I have this annoying problem that I can't figure out which file to make the changes in. I would like to have the [home] and [end] keys work on the command line in bash as I'm working with the history list. Suse 9.0. Which file do I make changes to so it is made for all user? .bahsrc? .bashprofile? What changes to I need to make?? Any help is appreciated. I'm definately a bash config file dummy. -- David C. Well don't mind doing that but I am unclear as to how you want to use these keys. If I retrieve commands (history) using the up/down cursor keys, and hit home/end, the cursor will position to the first position in the current command or move to the end respectively. This is in a KDE console session, or in a normal linux terminal session either as root or myself. Perhaps you want something different... Yes, that is the behavior I want, but I don't use X. I'm just running from
the terminal and in that case, the home and end keys in 8.2 or 9.0 DON'T
work as you describe. I need to get bash to work like you describe, but work
that way from runlevel 3 and for ssh connections. My confusion is trying to
figure out which, of the mired of bash config files, is the right bash
config file to modify to produce the desired behavior from bash. Any
thoughts??
