Play radio stream with Amarok
Hi, I'm using amarok 1.0 installed by default with Suse 9.2. In the playlist, when I click on the "stream" tab and then click on the "Fetch Stream Information" button, whatever the stream I try to play, it doesn't work. Amarok keeps downloading the stream forever without finally playing it, even if I enter manually a radio stream...Is this a know bug ? Realplayer does the job but if the OSS Amarok would work also, it would be nice :-) Thanks, Fred

amaroK is very much work in progress and much has changed and been advanced since 1.0. The final 1.2 version is due some time during the next couple of days, and I very much recommend you look for this version if it becomes available. I am running 1.2rc4 and streams are working. I remember that months ago there were messages in the amaroK forums from people experiencing problems with stream reproduction. So what you experience now may well be a bug in your version. I just had a look at the Novell/SuSE KDE update pages, and for 9.2 the amaroK update packages are right at the top of the list (http://www.novell.com/linux/download/linuks/i386/update_for_9_2/extra.html). So there should be no problem for you to update an see if you get the streams working. Good luck, -- Andreas Philipp Noema Ltda. Bogotá, D.C. - Colombia http://www.noemasol.com

I tried but YaST told be that I need kdelibs 3 > 3.3.2 and I don't want to update kdelibs, too risky I think. I guess streams in Amarok will work in Suse 9.3

No risk at all, just update all of KDE - it drops in like a charm. Dylan

Sometimes it helps to type 'gst-register' in the Console as user and root if you're using the Gstreamer engine.
