Does Suse 8.0 have support for usb? I just bought a m515 to replace my palm Vx, but now that it syncs via usb instead of serial I can't figure out how to get it to work. I've seen that some are using coldsync, but do I need that or does Suse have a way to do it? It looks like my fstab alreadys mounts the usb ports to usbdevfs, but I'm not sure what to do to be able to sync. Any help would be great, thanks. Brian

Hi Brian, No idea about your palm in particular, but when dealing with USB, you should use the latest kernel from the update directory in SuSE ftp. It should work with the stock kernel, but: I have seen (*) that the latest kernel is only just good enough for USB:-) Cheers ... If you plan on using pilot-link and jpilot, then you'll have to use pilot-link 0.11.4 and jpilot 0.99-2 compiled against pilot-link 0.11.4. The latest pilot-link/jpilot combo work flawlessly using the uvisor driver on my m5xx. They're autoconf'd so they should be relatively easy to compile. I'm using Ximian Evolution, which I think uses gnome-pilot. Can I get that to work with USB? Brian On Sat, 2002-10-05 at 13:27, Jerry A! wrote:

I don't think those will make a difference since they are just front-ends to pilot-link (someone please correct me if I'm wrong). Thus, you'll need a modern pilot-link (0.11.4+) to speak the Palm m5xx, Sony Clie, etc... protocols. --Jerry Open-Source software isn't a matter of life or death... ...It's much more important than that!
