I started up the SuSE Welcome Tour link on the KDE desktop and went to the Eyecandy page where I fiddled with the settings. Now the text files I have on the desktop have previews instead of icons which are quite large and unwanted. The problem is I can't change them back, no matter what I do in Eyecandy-O-meter or in the Control Panel. Anyone know how to revert them back to the original icons? Thanks, Geraint Jones.

Control centre -> Look & Feel -> Desktop -> Show preview for: and uncheck text files. Is that what you were looking for? regards Anders

I tried that - problem is the box is unticked, same as in the Eyecandy dialog :-( Geraint Jones

I suspect it's the same old refresh bug that keeps cropping up every now and then. Does it work if you log out and back in again? If you put a new text file on the desktop, does that get a preview or a normal icon? //Anders
Take a look at the permissions of your ~/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc Is it writable? tisdagen den 14 maj 2002 12.32 skrev Geraint Jones: :: On Tuesday 14 May 2002 10:30 am, Anders Johansson wrote: :: > On Tuesday 14 May 2002 13.24, Geraint Jones wrote: :: > > I started up the SuSE Welcome Tour link on the KDE desktop and went to :: > > the Eyecandy page where I fiddled with the settings. OK. I created a new text file on the desktop - it didn't create a preview :-) I also looked at the permissions of my ~/.kde/share/config/kdesktoprc and it isn't writeable. Thanks, Geraint Jones
