Hi, I have uploaded the following to sf.net/projects/susefaq. These are specifically for "SuSE 8.1" as I have discovered the configuration has changed for susehelp. Strange though no body has complained or filed a bug. Looks like nobody is using this package maybe I should abondon the project :-( Anyway for those using it susefaq-0.4-1.noarch.rpm http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/susefaq/susefaq-0.4-1.noarch.rpm?download susefaq-0.4-1.src.rpm http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/susefaq/susefaq-0.4-1.src.rpm?download my keys are available at http://dinamizm.ath.cx/toganm.asc Once you install the rpm 1) edit /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.susehelp around line 40 changing indexsusehelp to susehelpindex # /usr/sbin/indexsusehelp -> /usr/bin/susehelpindex if [ "$DOC_AUTOINDEX" = yes ] ; then /sbin/checkproc -p /var/lock/susehelpindex /usr/bin/susehelpindex >& /dev/null || \ echo " Creating susehelp index."; \ /bin/bash -c "/usr/bin/susehelpindex >& $MYLOG & /sbin/pidofproc \ /usr/bin/susehelpindex >/var/lock/susehelpindex" & 2) Then run /sbin/SuSEconfig --module susehelp 3) Now Unofficial SuSEFAQ should be again in the SuSEhelpcenter with Search enabled. 4) If there are bugs please submit them at http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=42064&atid=439827 Thanks -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

I do use susehelp: as I don't use kde much, I have to make susehelp work from any browser - its broken in almost every version since 7.1 at least. I discovered the bugs some time ago, but I didn't say any thing because I was trying to make some links work. This what I haven't solved yet: Links that do not work, even if the files exist: Development /tols * anjuta (works in kde/konkeror) * pharmacy (works in kde/konkeror) Application Manuals # KDE * Application Manuals # GNOME --> empty page # Manpages --> empty page # Hardware * xsane (works in kde/konkeror) * zapping (works in kde/konkeror)
Anyway for those using it
susefaq-0.4-1.noarch.rpm http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/susefaq/susefaq-0.4-1.noarch.rpm?download
susefaq-0.4-1.src.rpm http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/susefaq/susefaq-0.4-1.src.rpm?download
I'll have a look at it, I thought it was only online.
1) edit /sbin/conf.d/SuSEconfig.susehelp around line 40 changing indexsusehelp to susehelpindex
And the lock file name too. Once it is refered to as "indexsusehelp" and next as "inexsusehelp" (a "d" is missing)
3) Now Unofficial SuSEFAQ should be again in the SuSEhelpcenter with Search enabled.
I'll certainly try this :-) -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson

No please don't !! I have just upgraded my box to 8.1 this week and noticed something "funny" with susefaq/susehelp, but didn't have the time to really look into the problem, otherwise i would have surely "complained". Thanks Togan!

Himm I liked sound of crying :-) I need to hear these from time to time other wise I am not playing. Seriously I was wandering if sourceforge statistics were going nuts as there were over 500 downloads for the PDF in 10 days compared to the previous version of PDF just over 160 for a roughly 60 day duration. Anyway please do report things that are not functioning when they are said the other way around. -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

Just one thing. Yes I know about it as the style sheet that I use to create the html should have change the links to file location but it does not. I would say not a major bug and I am working on resolving it. Thanks for the report -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx

I use it both, depending on where i am .. Just a little question: is is possible to make this system work with Apache2 (Suse 8.1) -- m vr gr Frederik Vos L4L & VosBerg@SuSE http://www.vosberg.be

I think it is possible ( hold on I have not tried Apache2 yet) but my logic is if you enable DOC_SERVER in /etc/sysconfig/apache ( I assume it would be called like this for Apache2 YMMV) then it should work to try http://{DOC_HOST}/susehelp/ -- Togan Muftuoglu Unofficial SuSE FAQ Maintainer http://dinamizm.ath.cx
