[opensuse] Strange network problem with latest tumbelweed
I had posted this problem earlier, but now I have the machine standardized on tumbleweed and have removed the stable kernel etc. TOSHIBA Satellite L775D/TKBSS, BIOS 1.50 10/18/2011 machine running openSUSE 20160411 (x86_64) with kernel 4.5.0-3-default. The machine boots to multiuser target just fine. Then I start graphical target with systemctl isolate graphical.target. I am using xfce. Once I log into the GUI, the wifi network disconnects. In the nm-applet, I do not even see any wifi networks listed. Once I restart NetworkManager, networking starts working fine and the machine connects to wifi just fine. This started happening since the last 2 tumbleweed updates. The following log entries seem relevant but I am not sure what to make of them: 2016-04-13T20:04:02.750541-05:00 esilinux2 kernel: [ 145.085785] cgroup: cgroup: disabling cgroup2 socket matching due to net_prio or net_cls activation 2016-04-13T20:04:33.642559-05:00 esilinux2 kernel: [ 175.979790] BTRFS error (device sda2): deleting default subvolume 2223 is not allowed 2016-04-13T20:05:32.082513-05:00 esilinux2 kernel: [ 234.417997] BTRFS error (device sda2): deleting default subvolume 2223 is not allowed 2016-04-13T20:06:01.794587-05:00 esilinux2 kernel: [ 264.127967] BTRFS error (device sda2): deleting default subvolume 2223 is not allowed 2016-04-13T20:06:27.380452-05:00 esilinux2 kernel: [ 289.710292] wlp4s0: deauthenticating from 88:dc:96:26:c0:24 by local choice (Reason: 3=DEAUTH_LEAVING) (Ignore the btrfs related entries, that is another problem I am dealing with). Can you see your active connection while logged in text mode, before you start GUI? Use e.g. nmtui for it.

How exactly you restart NetworkManager?

I think this is normal when NM stops active connection. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks Andrei, I have not used nmtui but I can on the next reboot. I have done ip addr sho and seen a valid ip address, and I have also pinged/sshed into other hosts while at the console. I restart NetworkManager by doing systemctl restart NetworkManager.service from a terminal window where I su to root. -- --Moby -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
