Hi everyone. The screen saver doesn't work. It's enabled and chosen etc. It works when I choose 'test'. THanks, Steve

Hmm..I just started getting the problem with KDE 2.2 Beta1 on 7.1..this is bizarre. I know a guy I work with has this issue with 7.2 on his laptop. I just had chalked it up to him being a moron..but I guess his problems real ;) I would be interested in a fix..but this is strange in that it effects 2.1.1/2.1.2libs under 7.2 and 2.2 Beta 1 on 7.1. hmm...strange. -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- The only argument for the superiority of Windows over UNIX is that General Protection Fault outranks Colonel Panic.

Which xscreensaver are you running? I know that the xscreensaver version SuSE ships with 7.2 is incompatible to gnome-1.4 and would not be surprized if it is incompatible to KDE, too. (A strong indication would be if you can find an error message somewhere related to "window-id", when xscreensaver or xscreensaver-command tries to start) Ralf

Here's an observation that may or may not be relevant. I too couldn't get screensavers to work when using the XFree86 nv drivers (for NVidia). At the point where the screensaver was supposed to launch, I got some kind of segmentation-like error (don't remember exactly what it was). The problem went away when I switched to the Nvidia drivers, which of course have their own set of very well-reported problems. Paul

The screensaver problem existed on both my home and work machines ( TNT2 and MG400DH ). They went away after running YOU once, and amongst other things updating X and kdelibs. There is a bug in KMail after updating. Be warned. It does not destryoy your mailboxes, but it DOES NOT display mails correctly, so if you can't read the remainder of this mail after the next line, you may have the bugged thing :) This is a test line Folder\Braha@asimí some more text.... If you can see this line, you don't have the bugged version. -tosi

If there is a bug, it doesn't exist in KMail that comes with KDE2.2b1 -- I could read all of your email :) -Steven

I don't recall if I had answered this question, but running YOU, installing the updates and restarting KDE actually solved this on both my machines. -tosi

I believe if you install the kde updates for 7.2 on the Suse ftp site it will fix the problem. -- Rich

Have a look at the updated RPMs at our ftp site: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/7.2/k2de1 There are packages that are supposed to fix the screensaver problem.
