Promise FastTrack 66 IDE RAID Controller
Greetings - I'm looking for any information on when the 2.6 kernel will support IDE RAID in general, and if possible, the Promise fastTrack 66 card in particular. Being an old card, I assumed it would have drivers built in to the OS. This card worked flawlessly under SuSE 9.0. I am currently running on 9.1 on a single drive in hopes this won't be a long wait, and can add the RAID drives soon. Any help and/or direction to specific documentation about this issue would be appreciated. Thank you! - R.G. Smith

I don't know if this helps any, but I posted the same question about a Promise TX4000 SATA controller recently. Nobody answered, but I went ahead and backed up my drive and did the upgrade to 9.1 from 9.0 and everything worked flawlessly. I only had a single SATA drive though, so obviously I wasn't doing any RAID. I don't think that 2.6 will support any of the Promise RAID features, so you might lose all of the data on your disk. Make sure you do a complete backup if you decide to try the upgrade. Chris
