Browser war hots up!!
Slightly p****d off at netscape?
Don't run Konquerer because you don't want the overhead of KDE?
Couldn't get w3m to compile (I couldn't)?
Then get your butt over to www.opera.com and get the latest beta for linux!
Currently a 30 day shareware-type licence, a free version will be out soon.
And, before you start moaning about the 30 days bit -- it's a 2.5 MB download!
It's also the fastest (graphical) browser I've ever seen!

Opera 5.0 for Windows is out now, and it is free! It is also FAST. Being free it has a small panel in the upper right corner where ads flash are posted BUT when you hit F11 the full screen mode toggles on and ads disappear. You can also change the size of the web page from 20% to 1000%. Very nice. There are a couple of web sites I couldn't access: the UniversalThread couldn't talk with Oprera so I couldn't log on. Some M$ "imbrace and extend' techologies are apparent road blocks, but the java stuff works great. It has ICQ, newsgroups and email built in. 2M download if you have java already installed. I'm pushing it because the more Windoz users I can persuade to use it the less that will be using IE!!! The Linux version apparently isn't up to V5.0 yet. I am currently using 4.0 Beta 5 for Linux. And while it still has some problems they are being resolved rapidly. I really like the MDI interface. It makes browsing a lot of web sites at once a breeze.

hi sorry to butt in , but for opera for linux, the shareware version is a fake. delete $HOME/.opera, and u got 30 days more :) That means u can keep running it, no expiry nothing.. But why does opera give errors against proxies ( internet junk buster for one..) ? regards omicron -- ****** An optimist sees light at the end of every tunnel. Of course - who isn't? ;-)

Konqueror runs fine in Gnome here.
Couldn't get w3m to compile (I couldn't)?
Why compile w3m yourself? It's in series n on the CDs. Regards Ole -- Actors will happen even in the best-regulated families.

But I use SuSE 6.4 - didn't have Konqueror then, and I don't want to d/l KDE2 just to get it!

Not the latest version - tried and it died, so did Pat's :-(
