FW: [SLE] Install Raid5 on Poweredge 1500sc
I've worked all that out now but once I get into YAST it does not recognise my CD rom drive so the rest of the install goes belly up. I'm also pretty sure it does not recognise my second processor - if I look through the logs I don't see it registered anywhere. So I am no further?? Thanks for your help anyway. Hi,
Can anybody point me to a document/web page that can help me configure partitions and Raid5 on my new server.
I plan to install 7.3
I just installed SuSE 7.3 on a PowerEdge 2200/233. I don't know how similar the systems are, but hope this might help you along: The Raid controller, which Dell calls a 'PERC2' is in reality an AMI megaraid adapter, and the 'megaraid' module talks to it successfully. Configuring drives into RAID arrays is done from a ROM routine which is entered via hot-key at startup. Unfortunately, I don't remember which one. Read the POST messages carefully. Once the RAID array is set up, Linux sees it as a single SCSI drive, and you may partition and format normally from there... I still haven't found any utilities which would allow me to check status of the RAID drives, and possibly initiate a re-build of a failed drive from within the running Linux system. If you hear of such, please pass the link on to me, OK? Rick Green

On my 2200, the CDROM drive is SCSI, connected behind an Adaptec AIC-7880 controller. I did the install via FTP, using the boot floppies and YAST1, so I had to insert one of the modules disks and manually load the driver for that controller as well.
