Hi all, What experiences have people had with the above card (especially the PAL version)? Am I right in thinking that I should just need kernel video4linux support and the bttv kernel module? Actually, I'm a bit confused... which bttv driver should I use? The seemingly 'official' kernel driver at: http://www.strusel007.de/linux/bttv/ Or the bttv2 driver from: http://bttv-v4l2.sourceforge.net/ What is everyone else using? Thanks in advance, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\

Hauppauge PAL WinTV model 401, with a FM tuner. Using Xawtv for TV and Gtuner for radio. No problem at all. I've been using kernel support since vanilla's 2.4.0-test2 (June 2000). Simply compile I2C support in the Character devices section, Video4Linux support into the kernel and then Bt848 Video for Linux from the Multimedia devices section and finally TvCard Bt848 mixer support in the Sound section. ciao /nb ________________ Nicolas Beaulieu http://patagonia.dyndns.org Teamwork is essential: it allows you to blame someone else. _________________

I have WinTV card from Hauppage it's the cheaper one I'm not sure what the higher model adds. I have been using it since 7.0 came out last year and now have it working in 7.1. I use USA cable in NTSC mode and the picture is pretty good. I didn't have to do anything special just install the card and click on the program and scan for channels. The bttv must be already setup in the Suse kernel. The sound adjustment from within Kwintv doesn't work, but just click open the Kmix sound prg window and adjust it from there. Also in KDE2 I open the terminal prg and type in kwintv in order to get it to work. I guess it's not fully supported in KDE2 yet.
