hi all,
my first attempt to solve a problem using this emaillist, so I hope everything goes well.
PROBLEM: tv card not working LOCATION: Belgium (Telenet as a provider) SIGNAL ON CABLE: both analog as digital PLATFORM: x86 OPENSUSE: latest, being 11.1 PCI: MSI TV@nywhere pro (analog) more details:
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=132&prod_no=1396"
When I go into YAST and click on TV Card, I get the following: 0 TV : SAA7134/SAA7135HL Video Broadcast Decoder
So that looks ok, I guess. But when I do a scan for tv channels, it simply says: Channels found: 0. After reboot, sometimes it says: tvcard has no tuner?
Hi Michael in which application do you do this scan and what is it that says 'no tuner'? It sounds like your aplication isn't properly connected to your TV capture card. Maybe you need to configure your application to talk to the right device? /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (8.5°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org Hi Per, sorry, I mixed this replying a bit up and got some errors: I'm quite new to this way of solving problems. I think the whole thing has nothing to do with what kind of application, rather with UNKNOWN/GENERIC when I check what type it is using the command dmesg. In YAST it doesn't even find any channels :-( Basically I think I need to know what card number the tv anywhere pro card has in opensuse, and what tuner is in it... No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG - www.avg.com Version: 8.0.237 / Virus Database: 270.11.12/1998 - Release Date: 03/12/09 18:23:00

Okay, so it must be the driver that says 'no tuner found'. Can you post the output of lspci -v (only the part for your TV card).

The PCI identifiers will tell you that. Then we check to see if they're listed /usr/share/pci.ids, then we check to see which driver we need. /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Looks like this is the one: /usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video/saa7134/saa7134-video.c /usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video/saa7134/saa7134-cards.c Your card doesn't seem to be listed in saa7134-cards.c, but it could be a newer kernel (I looked at 2.6.22.5). /Per -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.6°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
