Installing on a Libretto - con't
I've been experimenting with ways to install SuSE 7.1 on a Libretto 100CT, and so far all have failed. The problem is that the floppy is PCMCIA, so I can boot from the floppy because it is supported in the BIOS, but once the linux image is started and asks for the Modules floppy, we are stuck because linux doesn't use the BIOS for anything, therefore no more floppy. Unfortunately I can't seem to find a boot floppy image for SuSE with PCMCIA built into it, although I suppose I can try building one... Other things I have tried are booting into Windows98 on the Libretto, resizing the partition with Partiition Magic so that I can have Win98 plus a SuSE directory that contains the contents of the first CD. I then use the start.exe utility on the CD dir (no on the HD) to install LOADLIN. Finally, back at the DOS prompt, start LOADLIN thus: LOADLIN hda1 umsdos This loads the image but fails getting Kernel panic: can't find init. I've also tried booting from floppy and specifiying the hard drive as the location of the installation when asked, but the installation complains that it can't find an image there. So.... does anyone have any suggestions about that one little thing that I seem to be missing somewhere? Thanks, -ronc -- 11:22am up 13:45, 1 user, load average: 0.14, 0.06, 0.01
