Hello folks: I have a modem Genius model GM56PCI-SM that doesn't work or I cannot configure it under SuSe Linux 6.4 using Yast; does somebody have some suggestion as for a specific driver for Linux, or as configuring it correctly?. Thank you! <HR> <UL> <LI>application/ms-tnef attachment: winmail.dat </UL> N§²æìržzǧué[h²ë)îÅ맲æìržzˬyÊ&ÚuØÚÊ&©Ý²Ç§ué[h²ë)îÅè^.±ç([(rØ^¶m§ÿðÃ.±ç(û.Š+·÷Ú
If its an internal pci modem its more than likely a winmodem that will not work. Your better off going with an external modem for linux now days. jack At 08:23 AM 7/27/00 -0300, Ernesto A. Zapata Icart wrote:

That's probably true, but you may still have a shot at it. Look at the site: http://linmodems.org One of my machines has a winmodem, Lucent-based, and someone in the list suggested the above address. It works flawless. Hi Ernesto, Will not work. It is a "Host signal processing for both controller and DSP" modem (aka _winmodem_). See "Fax / Modem- GM56PCI-SM" (direct from Genius) at: http://www.geniusnet.com.tw/genius/eng/prod/faxmodem/gm56pci-sm.htm Unless they where using the Lucent chipset (aka _linmodem_), wich they do not document at all. == ADDITIONAL INFO == You can see _linmodem_ related info at: "Winmodems are not modems" at: http://www.o2.net/~gromitkc/winmodem.html There it talks about "Linmodem drivers" in particular about the Lucent and PCTel brands. == END ADDITIONAL INFO == ---- "Ernesto A.
